RACE FOR EDUCATION

Welcome and thank you for visiting the Race for Education Web page!

Woodmont Academy will conduct its fourth annual Race for Education on Friday May 21.

The Race is an important fundraising event for our school and one in which our students participate, and have lots of fun! The proceeds from the race will benefit the children’s educational experience at Woodmont.

About the Race for Education:

• The students compose a letter in class asking sponsors to make a tax-deductible contribution based on the number of laps they complete (e.g., $1.00 per lap), or by making a lump-sum donation.
• A packet of information about the Race is sent to school parents, who then provide us with names and addresses of potential sponsors. Potential sponsors may be family members, close friends, neighbors, co-workers, and so on. We will then send Race for Education sponsor information, including that child’s personal message, to each person on that list.
• Volunteers for pre-Race and Race day activities are recruited.
• On race day, our K-8 students walk or jog around a _-mile area at Alpha Ridge Park as many times as possible in one hour. Our Pre-K students walk or jog around a 1/10-mile area on campus for 15 minutes. The average number of laps run is 18-20.

We are looking forward to another very successful Race for Education. Last year we raised more than $30,000, and enjoyed a day filled with fun and school spirit.
