Woodmont Academy Gala 2004
An Emerald Evening

Hello and thank you for visiting the Woodmont Academy Gala Web page. The Woodmont Gala is the “crown jewel” of our annual fundraisers, and this year’s celebration on March 6, 2004 at Turf Valley Resort and Conference Center in Ellicott City was a tremendous success and enjoyed by 328 guests.

The theme this year was an Emerald Evening and the festivities included fine dining, dancing, and exciting Silent and Live Auctions, emceed by auctioneer, Jonathan Melnick. Our guests vied for items such as jewelry, a fur coat, a signed Cal Ripken jersey, catered dinners, and vacations to Hawaii, Canada, Florida, and Vermont. In keeping with our theme, we also auctioned a one-week vacation in Killarney, Ireland. The highlight of the evening was the drawing of the Car Raffle winner. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Handy of Ellicott City are now the proud owners of a 2004 Volvo XC90. The winning ticket was drawn by Woodmont Academy Chaplain, Fr. Steven Reilly, LC.

Popular items at the bidding table were the classroom projects, such as Mrs. Ficca’s photo quilt, Mrs. Heisler’s hand-painted angel toy chest, and Mr. Rich’s “Gone Fishin’” tackle box. Woodmont parents, staff, and friends danced past midnight to the popular music selections played by D.J., Carl Miller. Visit our Gala photo page to catch a glimpse.

Our thanks to all the generous individuals and companies who donated items for the auction. Total proceeds from the Gala were $139,900. All money goes directly toward enriching the education and spiritual formation of students at Woodmont Academy. We are truly grateful to everyone who made our Emerald Evening Gala a real “gem”. This function demonstrates the true spirit of our school community. We have heartfelt appreciation for the volunteers, sponsors, parents, teachers, students, staff, and most especially, the Gala committee for their generous donations of time, talent, and treasures. May your lives be rich in blessings.

“Mise le meas,” “Yours faithfully,”
