MEDICAL MISSIONS

Woodmont Academy is honored to be a part of the Helping Hands Medical Mission in El Salvador. This mission sends medical professionals, supplies and equipment to benefit the most needy in that area. Missionaries share the Gospel and minister to the spritiual and physical needs of thousands. In addition, our missionaires visit the Mano Amiga School and bring additional supplies to supplement our Christmas giving.
Helping Hands Medical Mission - HHMM - What it is and how we help:
Established in 1996 as an apostolate of the Legionaries of Christ, HHMM’s mission is to provide medical aid to indigent people in developing countries. Doctors, nurses and volunteers have completed over 40 medical missions; eight are planned for this year.
Woodmont Academy has sent a team of missionaries to Santiago Texacuangos, El Salvador for the past fouryears and went most recently in November 2007.
During their time there, the Woodmont Academy missionaries accomplished the following:
served over 2,500 patients in five days of open-clinics to perform surgeries and provide vision and dental care,
- cared for over 500 dental patients and gave out over 2,000 toothbrushes
- devoted two days for house visits to remote areas to pray with families and inform them of the free clinic services
- sent thousands of dollars worth of donated medications and medical supplies
- delivered over 300 Rosaries hand-made by Woodmont students
- visited and donated funds to the Mano Amiga school and a local orphanage
